Galway & The Burren

Galway voted European City of Culture  2020, welcomes visitor to its charming network of cobbled street, traditional Irish busker music and fine array of stone clad restaurants bars and boutiques all enticing you to stay.

After collecting you at your accommodation, we head straight for the busy coastal city, located by the shores of Galway Bay. Our first call is to the  ‘Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St Nicholas’, or as the locals say; Galway Cathedral. Constructed on the site of the old Galway Prison and on the banks of the River Corrib, is was completed in 1965, this is perhaps the last solid stone Cathedral ever to be built in Europe. A visit inside captures true magnificence of its stain glass and green marble columns. Having spent time in the city centre, and the side streets off Eyre Square, we head out of Galway and south west to the headland of The Burren, one of 120 world renowned UNESCO Parks. Passing through Kinvarra, with its medieval castle we hug the rugged coastline, overlooking Galway Bay, stopping for photo opportunities as we go.

Eventually, we reach Lisdoonvarna famous for its traditional Match Making Festival. We take the opportunity to drop by The Burren Smoke House, an award winning Artisan Food producer of Atlantic Salmon. As we travel through the heart of The Burren we meet up with the villages of Kilfenora and Corofin on our way back eastwards.

As we make our return journey don’t forget to ask your Chauffeur what other opportunities this great County offers before heading back to your accommodation.
